James O'Keefe Gets Watergate Backwards

James O'Keefe

From Talking Points Memo:
James O'Keefe, the young conservative filmmaker who was behind the undercover operations that led to the ACORN scandal last year, was arrested with three others for allegedly trying to bug the New Orleans office of Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) yesterday.
O'Keefe may think he's Woodward/Bernstein when he's actually Hunt/Liddy.

What a moran...

When I heard this story on NPR tonight, all I could think about were the first reports of the "break in," so perfectly dramatized in "All The President's Men." Not that it shares any of the same potential fallout (unless someone in the GOP funded this idiotic move...) but it was reminiscent...

I drove across the US during the summer of Watergate, and it was fascinating to hear on the radio how it just devolved over time...

Nice memory, actually!

Aaah, memories...

I was in Jr. High school at the time. We held a mock debate in my history class -- and this being in conservative Westmoreland County -- I was one of three supporting McGovern vs. 20+ for Nixon.

I saw something about Watergate in the Pittsburgh Press and mentioned it in my argument and my teacher went ballistic admonishing the class that it was garbage and that no one should listen to me.

By the end of the school year she could barley look at me while briefly mentioning the "current troubles," but when she did look my way there was pure hatred in her eyes -- as if
it were people like me who had caused all the problems instead of Nixon himself.

I also remember watching the hearings on WQED everyday.

Good times. LOL

Wow, my first political memory, or the 1st time I was aware of politics that I remember is sitting in the "sewing room" while my mother ironed and watched the hearings. I was born in '68 so I was like 5, maybe 6. I don't know why I remembered it, but my mother must have given quite an explanation that it stuck w me all this time.
